The Lagos State Police Command has averted
an attempt to kidnap a Lagos businessman,
Oseni Agbamu Omolewa by a member of
kidnapping syndicate in the metropolis.
Detectives attached to Lion Building Police
Division of the command arrested a suspected
member of the syndicate, which specialized in
threatening members of the public with text
messages of kidnap, with the aim of extorting
them.
Luck, according to the Police, ran out on the
suspect identified as Abiodun Joshua, after he
demanded N37 million from one of his targets,
Oseni Agbamu Omolewa, to prevent her from
being kidnapped.
Explaining how the suspect was arrested,
spokesperson for the Lagos State Police
Command, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent
of police (SP) said: “On October 1, 2016,
around 11:20p.m., a woman identified as
Oseni Agbamu Omolewa, who resides at
Igbosere Road, Lagos Island reported at Lion
Building Division that she had been receiving
telephone calls from someone who claimed to
be a kidnapper.
She said that the caller told her to deposit
N37million into an account number to prevent
them from kidnapping her and her
children.“Immediately the division received the
complaint, it began investigation into the
matter, which resulted in the arrest of Abiodun
Joshua, in far away Kano on October 10,
2016.
“During interrogation, the suspect, who is an
indigene of Osun State, confessed to the
crime. Investigation is ongoing for possible
arrest of his accomplices,” she said. Source :- guardian
