Lorry yesterday crushed a mother and her
grand child to death at IKB Junction,
Ejighinandu, near Eke Awka-Etiti along
Nnobi-Ekwulobia Express Way in Idemili
South LGA of Anambra State. The lorry lost
its break and crushed the aged woman, a
widow selling banana and the child, both
heading home after she had closed for the
day.
With the corpses of the victims decapitated,
heads crushed and the woman’s hand cut
off, the children of the woman were crying
uncontrollably beside the bodies while the
crowd watched helplessly.
However, a convoy of Anambra state Gov
Willie Obiano stopped at the scene while
coming back from a function at Mbosi.
Under his supervision, Obiano's medical
team, with the help of his security officers
gathered the corpses into an ambulance and
took them to Our Lady of Fatima mortuary,
together with the woman’s son and daughter.
While condoling with the people of Awka-
Etiti, Governor Obiano urged them to go
about their normal businesses promising to
do his best to soothe the pains of the
bereaved family. He also warned careless
drivers to stay off Anambra State.
