A 2016, Olympian Izzat Artykov of
Kyrgyzstan has been stripped of his gold
medal for high intake of drugs. He has
become the first Rio medalist to test
positive to banned substance. The substance detected in his body
is strychnine, is a highly toxic alkaloid
which is used as a pesticide. When
ingested, strychnine causes muscular
convulsions before death through
asphyxia. Those convulsions are said to
be useful in tiny doses in the late 19th
and early 20th centuries. It was used as
